Even though we ain't got money.

I'm so in love with ya, honey.

Wise men say, only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you

Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be

Take my hand
Take my whole life, too
For I can't help falling in love with you

Why yes, I am a sucker for love.

Home Sweet Home

I went on a week long trip to St. George and Disneyland with my best friend, mom, sister, aunt and two of my little cousins. It was way fun, here are some of the highlights:

- Playing "My Team" with Shelby, and being sorely disappointed by the lack of attractive men at Disneyland (maybe that wasn't a highlight...)
- Eating at the Blue Bayou, a beautiful little restaurant on the banks of the Pirates of the Caribbean bayou, listening to the soft sounds of banjo music, and gazing up at the paper lanterns above in the sky. And then paying 75$ for it.
- Being asked for our numbers by a strange car of possibly intoxicated men at a stop light.
- Wearing a 'Sheriff Hannah' badge around Frontierland, only to be told by Shelby that "the sheriff is never taken seriously". Whatever.
- World of Color!! Amazing show. The world is a carousel of color...
- Receiving a phone call from an old friend.
- Laughing. I remember laughing a lot, although I forget at what. Mostly just Shelby being weird I think.
- Nielsen's Custard. Delicious.
- Getting "Dynamite" on the Kiss-o-Meter. Haha, look out boys.
- Just Disneyland in general.

But after being stuck in a car for the last ten hours with three other people who haven't showered for over two days, including myself, (literally, the stink was awful) I have to say that I'm glad to be home at last!

I will post pictures later.

What a Waste

There are two things in my life that I find to be a complete waste of time, but are necessary to do.

1. Going to the bathroom

2. Checking my e-mails

Technically I could get away with not checking my e-mails, but since the only way BYU-I seems to be able to contact me about crucial college information is by e-mail, it's not exactly something I can avoid right now. I have like 126 unread messages. Most all from Facebook, I don't really feel like fishing through those to find important messages. Oh life.

I've mentioned previously that I find peeing to be a time waster as well. I could save so much time if I could just skip that all together. Do you think it's possible to have ones bladder removed? I think that might only create more problems for me though, and I would end up wasting time in a hospital. Rather than at home on a toilet. To be honest I much prefer the toilet.

HAhaha I just realized something. Going to the bathroom you are eliminating waste, haha. And I think it's a waste of time. Hahahahah. Holy cow I find that to be ridiculously hilarious at the moment.

Ok bad joke.

It's 1:39 am. I need to go to bed.

Truck Broke Down at the Side of the Road

Today, Cassady and I decided we would like to go to the Draper Temple. We hopped into my '99 Dodge Ram pick up with 256,000+ miles on it and headed up Sun Crest. It wasn't until my brakes went out and we could smell the overpowering stench of burning car parts that we realized we were in trouble. Mind you the brakes on the piece of junk I drive have gone out before, so, in reality, I wasn't all too shocked. We clearly were not going to slow down in time to make the turn we needed to so we drove onward!! Eventually I was able to pull off into some random neighborhood, put the E-Brake on and called mother. Mother said that she would call grandpa who is genius with these things, but grandpa doesn't have a cell phone and was out and about the town.

Then we just decided what the heck and walked the next two miles to the Draper Temple. Which was lovely.

Two hours later we find ourselves sitting on a road barrier next to a stop sign, waiting for my grandparents to come bail us out of what I like to call a minor 'detour'.

My grandpa who is old and wise and has a plethora of knowledge when it comes to cars hopped in my truck, put it 1st gear, and coasted behind us down Sun Crest. Which is like a death hill. Me and my bro ride our bikes down it for fun, and basically you can get going 40mph (on bicycle) with no brakes, and pray that you don't get speed wobble. It's way fun. However, driving down it in a car, you need brakes. It's certainly not ideal to not have them. Luckily in 1st gear you can keep yourself slow enough without using them, which I wasn't aware of before the mishap.

And we and the truck got home in safety.

In conclusion I really need to marry a man who knows how to fix cars, because honestly I find myself broken down all the time on the side of the road with that big green truck of mine, and if it weren't for my grand daddy I sure as heck have no idea how I'd get anywhere. I'd probably be really good friends with the tow truck man and I'd also probably be really poor due to repair costs.

So dear future husband, you better be a grease monkey. Because if you're some pansie who doesn't know how to get his hands dirty underneath the hood of a car --

No Deal.

Baked Goods Are My Downfall

So I went running today.

Does the fact that I ate three chocolate chip cookies and at least fifteen otterpops after that cancel it out?

Probably. Who cares? I love cookies.

How soft the cookie is, determines how good the cookie is. The cookie ain't soft, the cookie ain't no good.

In other news I officially drove all the way around the lake. A feat I had not yet before accomplished. Cassady and I decided after our run to go on an adventure, and that turned into the two hour drive from Saratoga Springs, all the way around the lake and back to AF. It was awesome. We brought an entire box of otter pops which is why I ate like fifteen, no joke. Then after that we made cookies, jumped on the couch with a bunch of blankets and watched a chick flick.

Also I am going to Disneyland in like.. 1 day. YES.

Counting Sheep

I am quite tired and not at all sure what it is I'd like to write about right now.

I've only slept a total of 7 hours in the past two days. The bags under my eyes have sunken down to be level with my lips. Gahhh I am a beast. Did you know that there are some people who actually have a disorder that prevents them from sleeping? It's called like... fatal insomnia disease or something. Hold on let me google it.....

Ok it's called Fatal Familial Insominia. Basically what happens is eventually your body loses its ability to sleep. So you don't-sleep-to-death. If that makes any sense. That would be a super sucky way to go. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you can only go like ten days without sleep until you die. You are a zombie by the end of it.

Also I heard that if you can fall asleep within less than five minutes that is a sign that you are sleep deprived. Normal people should fall asleep from 10 to 15. I must be really sleep deprived then because as soon as my head hits the pillows I'm out cold!

Dang I'm super tired and also kind of sick of parties. Well, not so much sick of the parties then being sick of not getting any sleep because of the parties.

I realized something the other day that is going to be bad for my college experience. I am a person that really needs my alone time. I love being by myself. Actually I love being with people too, but I also love my time with myself. Like at least an hour or two a day. I really appreciate that hour or two I get to spend locked up in my room where there is peace and quiet and I am left alone to read or listen to my ipod or do whatever the heck it is I want to do. In college I am basically never going to have an alone moment. That's ok though, I will make do. College is going to be super great.

Tomorrow I graduate! I am excited and very much ready to move on. Sure, there will be aspects of high school that I will miss. Mostly just the social scene, and maybe the 50 cent cookies in the lunch room and book depository lady, but for the most part, and I am celebrating its conclusion! High school was great. I learned a lot of valuable life lessons I could not have learned elsewhere and for that I am forever grateful. I would not trade my experience at AFHS for anything in the world. Sure I made some crappy decisions sometimes, maybe embarrassed myself a time or two, but had I not done that I wouldn't have learned a darn thing!

I love our Dear Old AF High. I am a 4th generation graduate! My great grandparents, my grandparents, my parents, and now I shall graduate from there. I am so proud. Proud to be a Caveman. My children will surely be forced to go there as well.

Anyway, I desperately need to hit the sack. I am in dire need of some shut eye.

Nighty night.

What I Want My Children to Know

These are some non-religious things that I want my children to learn.

1. How to Take Life Slow.
These days our lives our really fast paced. People own multiple cars, computers, cell phones, credit cards, video games, etc. People want instant gratification because it's possible and they've had it their whole lives. People are more lazy because of it I believe. Back in the 1940's my great granddaddy walked two miles, both ways to American Fork High School every day. In order to talk to someone, you talked face to face, or called them up on the telephone. You heard their voice. Life was more personable.
I want my children to know how to work for the things that they want. I want them to know how to just sit back on the porch, watch the wind blow and talk about nothin. I want them to enjoy life. I don't want them to miss it because they're moving so fast all the time. You gotta know how to take walks and go fishing and visit grandma after school because you ain't got nothin better to do. I think that's so important. I think people forget to enjoy where they are at the moment, because they're too busy worrying about what's going to happen next. Wherever you are, be there. One of my pet peeves is when someone pulls out their phone and starts texting someone while they're with you. I think whoever you're with, no matter who they are, deserves your full attention. It stinks when you're trying to talk to someone, and you realize they're only half listening to you because they're too busy texting someone else. That shows lack of social skill and grace.

2. Be Kind, Care About Others
In english our teacher told us this story about a little boy who went on a walk with his mom. A man they knew started walking toward them and the mom stopped and began talking to him. The boy who thought the man wasn't worth his attention walked on and started playing with a stick down the street. After the man left the mother walked up to her son, crouched down, looked him square in the eye and said - "Boy, let that be the last time you ever walk past someone without saying hello."
It's like those times when you're walking down the hallway, and there's only one other person walking toward you, and it gets all awkward because you don't know what you're going to do when you get close to them. Then right as you walk past each other someone pulls out their cell phone and the other person looks the other way. That's so lame! I mean just say hello! Or smile! I mean what's the worst that could happen? It's not like they're going to beat you up for smiling.
The most important person is always the other person. I want to teach my children to really learn how to listen to people. They need to know that the person who matters most is whoever they are with. Know how to ask questions, know how to be genuinely interested in what the other person has to say. Make the other person feel like a million bucks!
Be kind, don't criticize others, don't gossip. Say hello to who you sit by in class. Include others. Pay attention to those who need someone to talk to. Respect others. Respect their elders.

3. Work Hard
I want my kids to know how to work. Work for the things that they want. Work before they play. But not too much though. I'm not going to just hand them everything. They need to know how to do stuff for themselves. Make their own decisions. I'm not going to be one of those over-protective moms either. It's alright to screw up and make mistakes, that's how you learn.
I want to teach them life skills too, like how to fix cars, and use a hammer. How to sew and cook and clean. How to garden, how to take care of an animal.

4. Hobbies/Have Fun
I want them to find something that they love and to go out and do those things. The most interesting people are people who are interested in doing things. People who can do things. It's never fun when you ask someone what they like to do and all they say is "I don't know." I don't want them sitting on the couch all day watching TV. I want them to play sports, do crafts, bake cookies, paint, hunt, play an instrument - whatever! I just want them to get out and do stuff.
But it's also important to know how to just chill and have fun. Sometimes it's alright to just do nothing. Sometimes that is the best thing to do! You have to know how to relax.

Maybe I'm kind of old fashioned, but those are some things that I think are really important.
