Summer, Summer, Summer

It has always been hard for me to pick a favorite season because there are great things going for each one of them. Summer however, is filled with adventures and lots of outside-ness (yep, just made that up) and I like that.

My favorite time is at dusk when I put on my running shoes and go for a little jog. By that time the air has cooled off considerably and people are still outside relaxing and the like. Plus the whole earth just seems a lot prettier, as the sun is sinking down lower and lower, putting off it's most flattering light right before it goes to sleep. It's a magical time, truly.

Guess what, peeps.

Yup. I started a countdown. For Disneyland. I mean how could I not? I may just be a little obsessed, but I mean it's Disneyland we're talking about here, only the happiest place on earth, ya know.

I can pin down when my love affair with Disneyland began to my early teenagerhood. It was a dark, difficult time. Filled with pubescent awkwardness and basketball shorts and a lack of makeup or personal hygiene (just ask my family, they like to remind me of my basketball short phase all the time). Anyway, I found myself all emotional and kind of depressed and with all the other strange things that happen when you're 12/13 years old, I found my solace in Disneyland. It was something that I liked to associate myself with. Something that I always looked forward to and could count on to make me happy.

Since I've grown up obviously I have learned to control my emotions and I am also proud to announce that I have established a regular shower routine and you wouldn't even catch me dead in a pair of basketball shorts. I don't make 300 day long paper countdown chains for Disneyland anymore either.... but I do put countdowns on my phone!

So I guess you could say that I never grew totally out of loving Disneyland. Which is ok, right?

Hopefully y'all have some fun things to look forward to this summer as well! It's only half way over after all, so live it up!

  1. I can TOTALLY relate to you about the disneyland thing. I grew up in southern california and it served as my preschool, my high school hangout, and everything in between. I miss when passes were so cheap! I hope you have fun!
