I Don't Even Know

+I have been absolutely loving the sunshine lately. I always get excited about the year's first sunburn. I would say tan, but I seem to lack that ability, so alas, sunburn it is.

+My awesome, crazy aunties from Kansas are coming to visit next week and I can't wait! Also Shelby, my best friend gets home from her mission on August 22nd, which I am anxiously awaiting.

+I beat Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64 today, that may be a mildly nerdy confession. I hardly ever play video games, so the fact that I actually beat one is a feat indeed.

+The above picture is of my hubby and I last week when we were out shooting our guns. He is the handsomest human being.

+Does anyone else out there watch 'Once Upon A Time'? As long as I can remember anything produced by ABC has always been unbearably cheesy, but feel-goody, much like all the Hallmark Christmas movies. Once Upon a Time certainly fits the cheesy, feel-goody mold, but for that reason I am just eating it up. Sometimes I watch like ten episodes in one day. I try to assure myself that's healthy.

+Whelp, that's all I have in my brain today for y'all.

A Bit of an Update

For the past few weeks I was stuck in a time-sucking vacuum where I, well, had no time to do anything of the recreational variety and unfortunately blogging is recreational for me, so yeah. Let me update you on what has happened to me recently that's worth noting.

I graduated from my CNA course. Which was awesome, but also kind of terrible. The class was the reason I had no life for about three straight weeks, but it was well worth it. My classmates were great and hilarious which made the whole experience slightly less painful.

These two lovely ladies came over to my house for a much needed girl's night. Because what better combo is there on a Saturday night than pizza and estrogen?

The hubby and I escaped this weekend to Park City and we got to stay at this way cool resort that had a pool with a waterfall. We listened to John Denver on our drive there, and might I just say that John Denver is the perfect soundtrack for that particular drive - or really for any drive.

And to top everything off I've begun my half marathon training which both excites and frightens me. Hopefully I am able to sufficiently prepare myself. It has always been a fear of mine to be the last person to cross the finish line at a race. I have this irrational fear that I'll get to the end and they'll be taking down the finish line and everyone will have already gone and left and it'll just be me... the loser at the back of the pack. Not that there's anything wrong with coming in dead last, I just don't want to it to be me, ya know?

As of Late

Today I took the day off and oh has it been wonderful. This past week I've barely had time to breathe, much less time to actually relax and well, blog.

I made it through the first of three weeks of my CNA class! Woo!

Yesterday the Easter Bunny made a stop at our house and brought us some candy and movies. We don't have children but I'm of the opinion that 'if you don't believe, you don't receive' and so the Easter Bunny comes to us anyway. Easter isn't just about all that fancy stuff though, we were able to celebrate our Savior and his resurrection yesterday too. I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and for his perfect example to us.

I am trying to come to terms with the fact that it's ok to be poor. We have all the money for the things that we need right now, and even though it's good to always be striving to improve our lives and increase our income, I have to remember to be grateful for what we do have and to enjoy the time of life that we are in. All comes in it's due time. I don't need a brand new couch right now after all, right? Haha.

I am watching Hitch right now. I love this movie.

Ahh how I love the boy in that picture. My husband is the best.

Well I've gotta Texas Roadhouse green bean recipe to go make so I am off...

Continuing Construction

Obviously I cannot settle on a proper header because I've changed it approximently 3484 times in the past few weeks. For now I am trying out this new one. I am also attempting to give the side bar a little face lift too but you know me, it could be forever and about forty different attempts at new looks until I am satisfied. Bear with me folks. Soon the new look will be complete.

Colors

I love flowers, and I am so happy to see that Spring has finally sprung! A sweet friend of mine who is getting hitched this summer asked me to do the flowers for her wedding and I am uber excited. I took her out to the floral wholesale warehouse on Saturday and we got to pick out some things. I love going there. I wish I could go there everyday and pick out flowers to put on my table. If only.

Does anyone out there remember the Nintendo 64? Lately I have been kind of a super nerd and have been playing all the old Mario games on it. *Fun Fact* when I was a teenager my uncle used to call me the 'Queen of the Nerds'. I prefer to think of it as a term of endearment rather than an insult, but take it as you will. I grew out of most of my nerdly habits but am still proud that a few of them remain. Y'all don't be afraid to be a nerd every now and again. It's perfectly normal.

Human

+ Sometimes I do stupid, somewhat impulsive things, regret it and then wish I could put a bag over my head. I guess that is part of being human.

+ Sorry to be vague, but I am choosing to be.

+ So, question. When does the term 'newlywed' no longer become acceptable to use when referring to a marriage? At two years? 5 years? After a couple has children? I have been wondering that today. I have been married precisely one year and (almost) four months! My, how the time flies.

+ I work with a lot of people who are 80+ years of age, and when I tell them I am 21 they talk about how young I am, but to be honest some days I feel really old. Especially when I think back to when I was in High School, was that really 3 years ago already? I guess perspective is everything.

+ I have no idea what to cook for dinner. Some nights I consider starving ourselves, but Nathan wouldn't tolerate that, and honestly, neither would I. I like food a lot. I plan my day around eating. I really get excited when I wake up so I can eat breakfast. That makes me sound food obsessive. Perhaps I'll make cookies for dinner, is that acceptable?

I'm Sexy and I Know It

Occasionally I get into these moods where I take selfies in front of the bathroom mirror. Don't judge me. I know you do it too. I have mastered a broad range of dorky facial expressions. I'm sexy and I know it, apparently. Also I like to build nests on top of my head with my hair sometimes (see above).

I changed my work schedule. Now I go in at six thirty in the AM, and let me tell you, the buttcrack of dawn is not a pretty time, however getting off work at three o' clock in the afternoon is shveeeet. Now if I can only learn to go to bed earlier than I truly will be happy with life.

I've been thinking today. Isn't agency a beautiful thing? Sometimes a not-so-beautiful thing? I think a lot of times we as humans question our ability to make choices, and then we question those choices we do make. Especially in the mormon sphere I think we believe there is a 'right' choice to every move we make, but ya know what, sometimes there's not. Sometimes there are multiple choices that are all equally as great. God gives us our agency because he wants us to learn and grow from our choices. He doesn't want to tell us everything to do. We make our own destinies. As un-romantic as that may sound. It's true. I think the real test is in making the most out of the decisions we do make, and being happy with them and with ourselves - correcting mistakes if we make them! That's how we grow afterall.

I start a CNA class in just a couple weeks. It is only the beginning of my prerequisites to nursing school, but I'm pretty excited about it. Perhaps someday I will make something of myself, let's hope so.
