Some of My Favorite Makeup Looks

Ok maybe this is kind of shallow of me posting about makeup, but whatever. I actually love doing hair and makeup. There was a time long ago when I was in denial of all of this and a self proclaimed tom boy, never showered, and wore the same basketball shorts everyday, but I am past all of that and unashamed to now present you with some of my favorite make up looks....

Gold/Copper Eye

My favorite eyeshadow ever. L'oreal's "Bronzes". I'm seriously super boring. I wear this stuff like every day. But it's what I love. Looks way good with blue eyes. Also if you use a gold eyeliner on the bottom lid, as shown above by the lovely Charlize Theron it makes the color of your eyes come out even more. Awesome.

Cat Eyeliner

I love the cat eye look. You have to be careful not to over-do it though. It looks best with a subtle wing at the end of the eye, like Angelina Jolie has done in this picture. Only line the top lid. It really defines the eye and makes lashes look fuller.

A lot of people have problems with eyeliner. This stuff (Revlon Colorstay crayon eyeliner) works wonders. It takes practice and a steady hand but this is way way way better - more acurate and less messy, than any sort of liquid eyeliner and it lasts forever.

I wish I could be a makeup artist sometimes.

They say you're a man with...true grit.

I'm watching True Grit right now. Actually I am taking a break from watching True Grit to write about the fact that I'm watching True Grit. Not the new one though, that one doesn't come out on DVD until May 14th. Which I am super excited about! I'm watching the original.

The John Wayne original.

Rooster Cogburn, a pitiless man, double tough, fear don't enter into his thinking.

Ah man. How I love old westerns. How I love John Wayne old westerns. My grandpa and grandma have like the whole dang collection, they bring me over his movies to watch sometimes. Heck he's probably like my grandparent's favorite actor. In fact my brother walked into my room a little bit ago while I was watching it and says...

 "Ah, True Grit. The original."

"How'd you know that?" I say.

"I've seen it."

"When?"

"Man, I hang out with grandpa. I've seen every John Wayne western."

He does have a point.

That movie has some really great dialogue too. It's hilarious.

LeBoeuf: You're lucky to be traveling in a place where a spring is so handy. In my country you can ride for days and see no ground water. I have lapped filthy water from a hoof print
and was glad to have it.
Rooster Cogburn: If I ever meet one of you Texas waddies who says he had never drank water out of a horse track I think I'll shake his hand, give him a Daniel Webster cigar.
LeBoeuf: You don't believe it?
Rooster Cogburn: Oh, I believed it the first twenty-five times I heard it. Maybe...maybe it is true. Maybe lappin' water off the ground is Ranger policy.
LeBoeuf: You are getting ready to show your ignorance now, Cogburn. I don't mind a little personal chaffin' but I won't hear anything against the Ranger troop from a man like you.

Ok. Now I'm definitely feeling a little nerdy. But it is a great movie! Both the new one and the original.

I'm gonna go finish watching it now!

The Bayou

My dearest dream is to visit the bayou.

I know to most this humble...shack. Wouldn't appeal. But for me, nothing says adventure like riding around in a fan boat through swampy waters, battling off crocodiles, and then later relaxing on a dock, eating gumbo and watching the fireflies flicker around through the night.

It's like on Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, when you first hop onto those little boats, and you set sail into the murky water and you gently ride past that lonely man playing his harmonica. In the bayou.

Oh honey. That's going to be me someday.

My auntie Terilyn is actually moving to New Orleans within the next year or so to get her doctorate. I'm totally going to stay with her for a summer. I honestly cannot go through life without riding on one of these babies:

Although I can't exactly say I'll be going with Crazy Al's Fan Boat Rides (see above).

Somehow, someway, someday. I'm headin down south. And I'll probably bring a banjo and overalls with me too just for good measure.

Too Cool for School

At long last I have been freed from school. SPRING BREAK. Liberation.

Every mornin I wake up, and before I put on my makeup - I summon every ounce of will power that I have to get up and go to school. I then somehow manage to summon even more will power after that to actually stay at the school once I get there. This is a serious problem guys. My friend Ben basically talks me out of ditching psychology every other day by guilt tripping me as follows:

"But then I'll be all alonnneee." *narrowed eyes, pouty lips*

Thanks a lot homeboy. I guess I have to go to fourth period now.

Not that I am a periodic sluffer/ditcher, or whatever you kids call it these days. But I guess you could just say I've caught the epidemic going around as of late - Senioritis. Big news there. I'm sure you're all familiar with the term and its effects.

I kind of feel like life is dragging on lately, ya know?

I need some excitement in my life.

I came across a quote the other day by Sister Hinkley that cheered me up a bit though -

"The trick is to enjoy life. Don't waste your days away, wishing for better ones ahead."

Hallelujah sista Hinkley, you are a genius. I seriously need to take your advice.

Also there is a country song that says something to the effect of:

"You're gonna miss this, you're gonna want this back. You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so faaaassst. These are some good times..."

So ya. I get that never again will I be a high school senior who has no serious obligations or responsibilities and is free to go and do as I choose. And one day when I'm paying a mortgage and changing diapers I will wish that I could go back to these times. Or at least that's the message I got from that country song.

So cheer up Charlie.

It's SPRING BREAK. And I am going to have the TIME. of. my. LIFE.

Partying it up.

At Goblin Valley.

The land of unlimited energy where a girl like me can run around and climb rocks for hours and not get at all tired. And also roast marshmallows and dance to Queen songs back at camp once it gets dark.

Good times.

p.s. Snow. Please stop.

Never Been Kissed

This is one of my favorite kissing scenes ever.

From the movie "Never Been Kissed".

Awesome.

Lavender Field

Someday I shall run through this field:

In June.

I so very much love the smell of lavender. It is my favorite of smells. I often times run to our small lavender patch and run the lavender into my nose and smell and smell until the sense has gone numb and I can no longer tell what I'm even smelling.

I also like the smell of wet cement. When me and my kid brother, Milo were young children we would run outside after it rained and go lick the driveway because we loved the smell of it so much. I have suffered no serious repercussions. As for my brother, that is hard to say. We wised up as we got older though and no longer have wet-cement-licking habits. I do remember it tasting quite as good as it smells. Such fond memories were those.

While we're on embarrassing childhood confessions I also used to eat chalk. Fortuantely I kicked that habit before I reached the sixth grade.

I do have a normal diet now. In case you were wondering. I don't eat chalk or lick cement or anything else weird anymore.

Actually I was tempted to eat some clay yesterday in ceramics, but the kid sitting across from me did it before I had the chance to and spent the rest of the time over at the sink trying to wash the grit out of his teeth. So I just left that one alone.

Anyway.

I like lavender. And all flowers. My secret ambition is to be a florist. When I'm an elderly woman who is looking for an excuse to get away from her cranky husband's grandpa jokes I will retire to my garden, where I will be able to enjoy an assortment of all the world's most beautiful flowers. Also I will undoubtedbly have a big lavender patch. It's going to be freaking awesome guys.

Snocone.

I just wish snoshack would open.

Or any other shaved ice hut for that matter.

Last summer I made a goal to eat every single flavor offered at the shack down the road from my house. I only accomplished eating about 15, out of the like, 85 flavors. I just got stuck on eating the peach with cream on top I guess. I think I ate that one at least once a week. At least. Plus after eating the "cheesecake" snocone, and throwing up afterwards, I pretty much steered clear of all the weird flavors.

But look man, I'm not going to stand for that this year!

I don't care how many strange flavors make me dry heave!

I'm tryin' them all.

All 85.

Or however many there are.
