Antelope Island

A bucket list item of mine was fulfilled this week! We went to Antelope Island.

Nathan and I have been talking about going there forever and now that we only live 30 minutes away it seemed like a pretty good time to make the trip.

Who knew such a gorgeous place was so close to where we live! I feel like when making bucket lists people typically add places that are really far away and exotic and forget about the places that are right in their backyard.

We tried to walk down to the beach but the closer we got to the water the thicker the clouds of bugs got! When we were like within 2 feet of the water the ground was MOVING with bugs. It was so gross! So we turned around and booked it back to the car.

Like I can't even describe how bad the bugs were people. We got eaten alive!!! It wasn't until after the fact, that Nathan decided to tell me he had read on the website earlier that the was the 'gnat hatching season on the island'.

Uh, would've been nice to know.

But we had a good time anyway.

Melbert quite enjoyed himself.

We had just finished a hike and we were going to drive to the other side of the island but then this gorgeous sunset happened and I told Nathan to pull over so we could watch it!

So we turned on our best oldies hits and sat on the hood of the car and watched the sun go down. This is definitely the best sunset I've seen in a long time. Of course you all know the pictures don't do it justice.

It was such a perfect moment and I have bottled it up and put it away in my collection of favorite memories fo' sho'.
